A viral video showing how a Kuwaiti employer simply watched while her Ethiopian maid fell from the 7th floor window shocked many netizens. The 12-second video showed a terrified woman clinging onto the window, while the woman filming can be heard saying: “Oh, crazy, come back.”
The Ethiopian maid then can be heard saying: “Hold me, hold me” before screaming in terror. Instead of helping her, the employer continued to film. A few moments later, the maid’s hand slips and she falls a few floors down onto an awning—which literally saved her life.
Luckily, the maid survives the fall with minor injuries. She suffered a broken arm, with her ears and nose bleeding from the harrowing ordeal. The paramedics immediately rushed her to the hospital where she was treated and checked for other injuries.
The Kuwait Society for Human Rights on Friday called on the authorities to investigate the case and refer it to court after it was posted on social media.
The employer claimed that the maid ‘attempted suicide’ and that she didn’t do anything to put the maid in that situation. Authorities are investigating the incident and as to what lead the woman to taking her own life “if it was indeed a suicide attempt”.
